Empty Hours Fanzine . . Review of Inner Citys first release entiteled ' Inner City ' .
Mod band Inner City have two tracks on the demo , both are written by the band themselves, and are very impressive. The first "Can You Tell Me Why" ?, a very catchy toe-tapping number. "Taking My Time" ! is an equally ear-catching recording. This demo shows that Inner City have alot of poptential, and I can't wait to hear more from them . "How can the mod scene die with bands of this calibre around" ? .
The In Crowd Fanzine . . Review of Inner Citys first release entiteled ' Inner City ' .
Both songs on this cassettte are from new band Inner City and have a R&B flavour. This is especially true of "Taking My Time", with it's added harp which really makes it . "Can You Tel Me Why" sounds just a little like the Purple Harts . Not to bad for a first recording but I am sure there is better to come .

Empty Hours Fanzine . . Review of Inner Citys second release entiteled " Inner City are go ! " .
A superb little three tracker from the south wests finests sons. This has helped cement my personal opinion that Inner City is one of the finest bands still largely ignored by the main Mod scene . The first track " Mr Mystery man" has a very interesting and "hip" start , then onto a powerful rythem track . My fave on the casstte has to be , " The Good and Sad " it's a brilliant , mean and moodie exquisite little number , good enough to grace any up and coming compilation . The third and final track, "Where's the Hammond" sounds like Fay Hallam with a moustache ! , it's so Rhythem and Soul it's unbelievable. A cassette of diversity , which these days if a god send from the usual thump ! thump ! thump ! . A cassette for people who enjoy good music, this comes with a total "EMPTY HOURS" seal of approval .

Reel 2 Reel Fanzine . . Review of Inner Citys third and final release entiteled " Set the DANCE TONE sucker ! " .
A strange title it may be , but once you've played this fabulous four tracker you'll be wanting to hear much much more from this band . Steven Wilkinson is the man with a lot to say , it's the bands best creation to date . " The Evidence" , speaks for him in a near pefect manner . Probably the weakest of the tracks here is " Runaway " at any other time it would be a winner, but the quality here is so good .... The last of the two tracks , " Prime Time " and " Aunt Alice " had me thinking of early Paul Weller , I can't put my finger on how , they just have that kind of feel to them . Buy this and be sure to check out Inner City's earlier cassettes , " Inner City "and " Inner City Are Go" !. You'll be a mug if you miss out ...
